Extraordinary and emergency parliamentary session chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan!

An extraordinary, emergency and very important parliamentary session was held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan, in which Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, Provincial General Secretary Ali Asghar Khan, provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants and members of the provincial assembly participated in full.

The meeting held detailed consultations on the sad, shameful and unbearable incidents that took place outside Adiala Jail last night, the political turmoil in the country, the unconstitutional 27th Amendment and other very serious issues. The parliamentary committee, adopting a very strong and clear stance, took the following decisions:

1. The state violence, harassment and brutal behavior against Imran Khan’s three sisters, Provincial Minister Meena Khan, Member of National Assembly Shahid Khattak and Member of Provincial Assembly Abdul Salam were condemned in the strongest, most unambiguous and unequivocal terms. This act is a clear example of political revenge, constitutional deviation and misuse of state power, which has not only zero legal but also moral status.

2. On Friday, every constituency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will protest vigorously against the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the unconstitutional, vindictive and dictatorial behavior of the federal and Punjab governments. This protest will be a clear message that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and their mandate cannot be suppressed or bent.

3. Humiliation of the provincial government, ministers or members of the assembly will not be tolerated at any level, at any cost. If such actions continue, the province reserves the full right to give an appropriate constitutional and political response.

4. The continuous biased, violent, provocative and unconstitutional actions of the federal and Punjab governments were rejected in the strongest terms. Such actions are tantamount to severely damaging trust between the federal units, institutionalizing political revenge and trampling on provincial rights.

 5. Chairman Imran Khan’s sisters are completely apolitical and the inhuman, immoral and biased treatment meted out to them is extremely shameful, detestable and unforgivable. Especially in a province where an unelected woman government has been imposed through rigging.

6. The provincial government, ministers, parliamentarians and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stand like a rock with their leader Imran Khan, his sisters and all their elected representatives, and it is impossible to bow down to any kind of pressure, threat or political blackmail. Such actions may have dangerous consequences in the future.
